before i stopped…

March 9th, 2004

Morning Coffee Drawing…I would never have bothered about a cup and saucer. These days I love the ritual of assembling my morning coffee. Boil the kettle, heat the milk, warm the cafetiere, spoon in the coffee, add the water and leave to steep. Get out my cup and saucer and pour out. I then sit sipping it while my breakfast cooks.

I do like the the sound of the cup on the saucer. The clink as I lift it up, take a sip and put it back down. Clink. I’m not sure when mugs arrived in my life. When I was small we always had cups and saucers. They were about afternoon tea. Sitting down. An event. Mugs are about a quick drink (often made in the cup). Nothing special. I need less mugs in my life.

    Hello Michael

I’ve got one of those Moka pots which are fun shapes but must make the strongest coffee. I’ve worked out if I put it on the lowest gas go and have a shower it will have schoooshed through by the time i get out.

That’s interesting, is it decaf you drink Michael? One of the first things my M.E. specialist told me is to give up caffiene. I’ve felt better since I gave it up too.

Today I am an IKEA plan white (Made in Turkey!)

Love the colorful French press! Mine are all boring black and chrome:(

Wendy - no I do drink real coffee. It does give me a lot of pleasure though - which I hope counteracts the “bad” aspects of drinking it! Just now I feel I’ve given up a lot, so I’m not sure I’m ready to give up coffee. Maybe one day… Good to hear it has done you good though.

Michael I’m convinced that if you are going to have coffee have the real thing because whatever chemicals are used to decaffinate it or turn it into ‘freezedried’ must be worse. Occasinally I give it up and switch to Earl Gray for a bit. ALSO she says on her high horse I’d rather have a teeny tiney cup of the real thing than a large mug of something fake.

I have given it up for periods but frankly it made no difference what so ever to the way I felt.
