Yes, that's true for me too. Our body can handle fruit sugar much better! It normally only takes me a couple of weeks to lose the urge. But this time it's taking longer. I think it's because some sugar had been snuck into something I ordered at a restaurant and that caused the cravings for alcohol, etc. I can't wait until chocolate loveliness no longer looks good at all! :)

by the way, don't know if you have this problem, but i've blogged about it:

I better be careful then - I wouldn't want to break a tooth on one of them.

I was being quiet specific when I said I was avoiding sugar. I was talking about the refined white or brown stuff not all forms of sugars (or carbohydrates). Fructose, the "sugar" in an apple doesn't cause the same sort of blood sugar rush and crash that I get when I eat more refined foods. Boring, but true for me.

Fruit is full of sugar! An apple has aproximately SEVEN lumps of sugar in it.

Hello Hetty - no I don't use a sweetner. I'm lucky that I don't seem to crave the sugar too much (beyond the emotional need of course!), but I am eating more fruit. When I've done this before I used to allow myself the odd treat which helped a lot - a slice of very good cake from my Favourite Cafe usually. Interestingly the longer I went without the less I needed the treats. It fell apart when I had a bit of health scare a couple of years ago and I immediately went back to comfort eating. Not quite sure how to combat that one yet.

Good luck.

that's fantastic to be off them for over a week. i'm still having withdrawal (i.e. cravings with offset any noticable health benefit!). do you use stevia as a sweetener? that seems to help me. and eating carrots and eating yogurt with fruit...? do you have any things that seem to help you? (I'm always looking for suggestions!)
