after reading…

August 8th, 2004

Drawing of Iron Chickenthis over at Keri Smith I dug deep into one of my new drawers and pulled out an old watercolour set. I had fun sitting in the garden playing with them - and for once I think I actually was playing. I find it so easy to forget to let myself have fun - even now, years after thinking I had learned the lesson that life was supposed to be enjoyed. It doesn’t take much for me to start to take just about anything too seriously. I’ve often read that it is trait that people with ME/CFS have - being perfectionists, not having fun.

Today I rolled a log down the hill behind the house and rested it on two smaller logs. I now have a small place to sit outside the front door. I sat there and read this morning. If it’s not raining I’m going to do the same tomorrow. Briefly I managed to find that calm quietness that has been so illusive of late. I found it again while I was playing with my watercolours. I’m going to keep looking for it - I suspect the secret is not to look too hard…
