Drawing of Clock

…clocks for The Beany.

The clocks changed last weekend which isn’t my favourite time of year. I notice the dark creeping up on the corners of my vision a week or two before we’re supposed to wind the hands back an hour and make the evenings even darker. I notice it more since G and I moved out to this little house. When we lived in town we had a huge window over looking the harbour which dragged in every last drop of autumn light. Here we’re often in the clouds and the windows are far smaller. Often I have the lights on all day. I’m being brave though. Lighting plenty of candles and enjoying the fact that it’s time to light the fire again.

This clock belonged to my grandparents. My aunt gave it to me a couple of years ago. It doesn’t tick anymore sadly - maybe I’ll get around to getting it fixed. It reminds me of a similar clock we used to have at home. I used to love sitting listening to its deep tick-tock. Very comforting. Yet another example about how I seem to be thinking about the past at the moment.

Last night I found a book I didn’t realise I still had. An Enid Blyton - the first book I ever bought. It’s mentioned in my 100 things about me. I have very happy memories of my father reading it to me. I shall sit in front of the fire and indulge myself in my memories with it.
