a sense…

…of perspective.
I decided to embark on a little guerilla marketing for The Beany today. Instead of filling my morning with shoulds and oughts I went up to the Arts Centre where I used to teach classes and sat in the cafe watching people and surfing the net. I’d taken a pile of Beany postacrds with me and had decided I would leave some in the box office and then put some on the cafe tables. Surely people would be grabbed by the bright design, intrigued by the drawings, fascinated by the quotes. In short I would find a large handful of interested readers. Surely.
Instead people fingered my lovingly designed cards, folded the corners as they chatted to their friends, tapped them on the table absent mindedly as they waited for people who should have been there ten minutes ago. One woman even scowled (or maybe that was because I was staring as I drew her).
In short I realised the thing that is pretty much the centre of my thoughts at the moment is only of very passing interest (at best) to the vast majority of people who come across it. Ho hum. I shall have to simply do what I do and then send it out to be seen or not as the world sees fit.
Nice coffee and a cake though…
