little changes…
…can feel good it seems.
Because we had guests on Christmas Day G and I moved the kitchen table into the sitting room and my reading chair into the kitchen where the table had been. I like the new arrangement a lot - partly because it happened without planning and suddenly has given me a new perspective in my little house. Now I can sit in the kitchen and listen to the oven humming with my breakfast baking in it and blog comfortably. Then I can carry my steaming food through to the sitting room and eat looking out of the window at the snow sprinkled hills. It all feels just right.
Interestingly the change around also seems to have given me some extra energy (at a time when usually I find my energy has been completely sapped). Suddenly I find I’m planning other changes I can make in the house and the studio. Later today I’m going to have a bonfire to get rid of even more junk. This all feels like an extension of the process I began last year to simplify and learn to do less - and enjoy it.
All because I’ve moved a chair.

That’s great! I don’t think we have much room for change, unfortunately, because it does always feel so good to move things around a bit.
What is in the oven in the mornings? (Maybe you’ll inspire me to eat breakfast!)

OK, I gotta look for a chair to move, now.
And, I see Blankets on your current read list. I finally got my copy in November and read it in two relaxed sittings. Wonderful bitter sweet drawings and story. thrive!, O

Heather - Breakfast was bacon, egg and a few potatoes (which were roasting as I typed) :o)
O - I really enjoyed Blankets too. A perfect Christmas read with all that snow.
Good luck with moving your chair…

michael I’ve got exciting news! I think I’ve cracked the decreasing stitches for beanies problem. Previously the hideous hats were coming out all peaked. I’m hoping I can get some kind of nobel knitting prize for this…

Hi Michael, hope you had a good christmas. Saw mum weekend before christmas she was pleased with the card from your mum. That looks just like my poang chair from ikea (apart from mine is blue and light wood).
Wish you well in the New Year.
Take care

Michael, I love that moving a chair did so much for you. I know the feeling though. Occassionally I try to “shake things up” a little bit to promote changes. I’ve enjoyed reading your blog.
