n and i…

…followed this blue van nearly all the way to IKEA. Quite comforting to have it in front, not going too slowly, showing us the way. We lost it somewhere the other side of Shrewsbury when we stopped for a much needed cup of tea.
I was surprisingly restrained in IKEA, not only having the smaller portion of meatballs for lunch, but also managing to only buy one or two small things (a dishwasher proof coffee pot, some candles and a light for the kitchen).
I’m trying to learn to be more restrained about money. I have a completely unfounded and rather superstitious idea that my low energy often goes along with my overspending - overdrawn bank account/overdrawn energy reserves. True or not I’m sure the discipline of not overspending can be translated into not overdoing things - and vice-versa.
N bought a large set of drawers and has spent this evening putting them together. I might have one all to myself for my things for when I stay over. That’s nice.

And something completely different: thanks for your link to Trevor’s blog (in your “today’s bookmarks”): great drawings and inspirational texts.

ummm… If overspending money leads to overspending energy… it explains a LOT!

We seriously under did Christmas this year, choosing to express most of our giving to giving to a single parent struggling family. It was the best Xmas I’ve had.

My mother always finds it comforting to travel behind trucks like this. She thinks that, for the most part, many truck drivers are looking out for her by the way they acknowledge her presence and are courteous to her.
(She also thinks the ones that break regulations or fall asleep at the wheel are not called up on it enough!)
Love the sketch ..nice colours.
O, if I had my ‘druthers, I would’ve visited the new IKEA in our area months ago. Llike you, I’m trying to show restraint. Yet, I find that buying something simple, like a couple of ice cream bowls in pale green & blue, at IKEA always satisfies me completely!

I just put myself on an allowance - just to see what would happen. I’m almost done with week 2, and it feels great. I find that hoarding and doling out the pittance I allow myself for frivolities makes me really think about need versus crazy want.
On a more important note: Meatballs! I am going to ikea on my birthday next month. I have two goals: buy some giant pillows and eat a huge portion of meatballs! Yum.

YAY! IKEA! I didn’t restrain myself enough last week in Baltimore, and our car was literally almost riding on its back wheels from the weight:)
