on resting and tea drinking…
Or rather resting and NOT drinking tea.
After arriving back from holiday thinking I was none the worse for wear I suddenly realised at the end of the weekend that I was more tired than I realised. My tiredness showed in a new (and particularly cruel) way. I was completely unable to drink a cup of tea in My Favourite Cafe. More accurately I was unable to lift the cup of steaming nectar to my lips without shaking and spilling it. All a bit embarrassing - and VERY frustrating. Cake I could eat, drinks through straws I could manage, but anything hot and I just couldn’t lift it without the shaking starting. Oddly enough at home whilst I felt as though I could start shaking I was less scared I would and largely managed to indulge in the odd cuppa.
So, I’ve been resting. Really resting. I suspect I shall have to do some more. Bother.
Whilst I was away tea drinking was fine. The only problem being the nasty little tubs of long-life milk left in the rooms along with the mini kettle and tea bags. So my mother and I could continue to indulge our habit we got in a routine of an evening stroll to buy a bottle of milk in the village store. I stored it overnight in my sink surrounded by cold water, and in the morning we could enjoy a passable cuppa and a biscuit.

MN> ” I stored it overnight in my sink surrounded by cold water”
I did this once in an Italian hotel. The plug leaked slowly overnight, so I had rancid milk in the morning.
Rest a-plenty, M.
Cheers,
B.

Sorry to hear you’re not feeling your best. Terrible about the tea. Sounds like you need a holiday from your holiday. Hope you’re feeling better soon.
ps. I really like your drawing.

Nice illustration! Oh nooo about your tea drinking. The same thing happens to me but its because I’m hyperthyroid (Graves disease) and it makes my hands shake. I doubt thats the reason yours did tho but you never know (?). Has it gone away yet? Great solution to your being able to have tea in the mornings on holiday. Hope you can resume tea drinking in public cafes soon:-)

I’ve experienced this with my M.E. too Michael, I had a lot of trouble with it all the time for a couple of years, but strangely enough was only today noting that it has more or less disappeared as a symptom, which is great. There is a little, but I have learned to live with / ignore / work around it. I can symapthise with the embarrassment it causes in public places - I was worried people would think I was cold turkey! With rest, it will ease, and tea and cake it will soon be again!
Enjoy the excuse to drink bottles of pop!

Sorry about the shakiness, Michael, and I hope that it goes away for you soon. My aunt experienced something like that, out of the blue, a few months ago. A neurologist tried her on a medication and it took care of it with no side effects. Sometimes they can’t find a cause but they can find a remedy.

Blah to the shakies - try a bit of lateral thinking. Big mug, half filled, cupped with both hands. Practiced at home with biscuits
Hope this passes soon M (as an aside check with your GP if any meds you might be taking could be causing this - also - decaff tea/coffee might help too).

Oh, no. I was afraid that something like that would happend to you post-holiday. I just didn’t think it would be so severe. Rest up and take care. Glad you had the energy to let us know how you’re doing.
