new toy…

Blood pressure contraption…but not one I would have put on my Christmas list.

Danny Gregory
is apparently feeling his age.  Me too.  When I visited my doctor yesterday to discuss my annoying coffee spilling habit he took my blood pressure and then handed me a little contraption I can use to monitor my readings at home for a month.  Yuck.  Normally I would be very pleased to have a new electronic toy, and actually (and rather perversely) I do quite like the little grey and white contraption – it’s a little like something Batman might have had in his batbelt.  What I don’t like is the fact that my GP feels I need to keep an eye on my blood pressure, even if he has sweetened the pill with a new toy.  Definitely a ho hum moment.

On the coffee spilling front, he did think the problem could well be a side-effect of medication and so I’m slowly coming off the sertraline I’ve been taking for the best part of the last two years.  Hopefully I’ll be able to visit My Favourite Cafe again soon for a large cup of coffee  – unless my blood pressure is too high and then I might have to have peppermint tea instead.  Like I said, ho bloody hum.

Actually, I’m feeling surprisingly upbeat despite feeling my mortality a little just now.  Perhaps it’s something to do with the fact that I’m off to Scotland tomorrow for a week.  Lovely.
