Visiting Jenners…
Sasha had chosen Jenners’ tea-room for their merrting, because Jenners made her feel secure, and had always done so. Other shops come and go, and go, and one or two parvenus had indeed recently set up in the city, but she, quite rightly, remained loyal to Jenners.

Actually, this is as close as I got to Jenners on my visit to Edinburgh with N a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to eat battenberg in the tea rooms, but it wasn’t meant to be this time. Maybe I’ll get there again sometime soon. I had a lovely day though, eating, shopping, and meeting up with a blogging friend. In fact I had a lovely week holidaying in the Scottish Borders. I had no idea it was such a spectacular place. I want to go back, and not just for the battenberg.
While I was away I also gave a lot of thought to how much I’ve been doing of late. Too much. At least too much of certain things. It’s time to reassess things again. Get my priorities in order. I hope very soon I can be here more…
BTW - a free copy of The Beany goes to the first person who leaves a comment saying what the “deliberate” mistake in the Jenners drawing is.

The spelling of Jenners? oo glad I was on e-mail right now!

Is this a bit like the teacher saying ‘I made a deliberate mistake on the board just to see if you were paying attention’? I have used that one on many occasions to cover my poor spelling ability.

Hi Michael!
Jenners tearoom is now self service! Not as nice as it was in my grandmas day when they went with waitresses in white starched aprons. If you come back go because it has a nice view but Harvey Nicks has a fabulous roof terrace where you can see all the way to the Bridges or even The Balmoral to have their chocolate scones!

All this talk of cake and tea is making me salivate…
