tip top weekend

TiptopI’ve just had a tip top weekend. I’m paying for it a little now and am having to have a few quiet days to recover, but it was worth it.

I do still often find myself heartily resenting being tired, but I am trying to learn to accept that doing things does have a cost in terms of energy. Not as much as it once did, not by a long way - but there still is a price to pay. This week it has meant one day largely spent in bed snoozing and reading and one day gently pottering. I’m hoping that’s enough. Time will tell.

As part of my campaign to recapture a bit of the past I rounded this weekend off with a taste of Sunday’s of old. Tip Top (and I quote from the can) “is a fun treat for kids, and great served with fruit, jelly, crumbles and pies and your other favourite pudding,” which just about covers everything. I’m sure my mother used to buy it as a powder and mix it with milk to make a thick topping for sunday tea (usually a tin of fruit), but I found it in a can. I’m very grateful to BM for the reminder (and hope he enjoyed sharing a can with me).

Back to a little gentle pottering - tomorrow I’m off for a day out gallery hopping (and shopping) in Liverpool with N.

G-Man it’s one of those vile ersatz cream/mousse subsitutes that you could only want to eat for nostalgic reasons.
