getting back to normal (or not)…

Less-Guiltypostit

I’m finding it difficult to get back into the swing of things after the holidays. More difficult than normal I think, because I’ve decided that from the next Monday I’m going to be working on a more full-time basis. My health has continued to improve this last year and I do think it’s time to take yet another step into the world of “doing”. I want to be careful of course, and try and take the lessons I’ve learnt about pacing myself and doing what is sustainable along with me.

I’ve had a good relaxing time over the holidays and I’m loathed to lose that easy flow that often comes along with holiday time. It’s not that things didn’t get done, but generally they happened easily between the sitting around, eating, drinking and being merry. Could it be, that with enough downtime, the uptimes take care of themselves? To simplistic may be, but something worth trying.

I have noticed that the thing that was missing over the holidays was guilt. Generally I ate, rested and had fun without feeling guilty. Once the holidays end, it’s the guilt that tries to drag me to my desk. It’s the guilt I fight against. Suddenly there’s no pleasure in not doing (or in doing, for that matter). So, for 2006, I’m going to try and feel less guilty and see where it takes me…

    Michael,

That, I think, is the best New Year’s Resolution I’ve ever heard. Tell you what, I’ll join you.

Thank you for being such a positive influence during 2005 and have a wonderful 2006.

    All the best,

    Sam

Ahhh guilt is a killer. Guilt and regret.
    Good luck with the progression.

Nice post. I too feel the past year has been an upswing. For “Feel less guilty” I would substitute “Doubt myself less.”

Guilt evapourates when we learn to forgive ourselves. Bach Flower Remedy “Pine” helps this process along.
I enjoy your blog very much, thank you Michael.
    Cheers,
    B.
