filling my pen…

040821InksmI seem to be emerging (very slowly) from my blogging break. It’s actually been more than a blogging break; I feel as though I’ve been retreating from much that is creative in my life. I’ve probably needed the rest. I had been feeling as though I’d fallen back into struggling a great deal with much that I do. The thing about struggling is how tempting it is to “just try one more thing”. I find myself constantly digging in the ashes (who said that?) and just getting more and more dejected. Often the only answer is to give up and give in.

The sun’s been shining here on the side of my hill which has helped with doing very little, but it hasn’t been an altogether easy time. I’ve been digging into Julia Cameron’s books, The Artist’s Way and Walking in the World in search of some comfort, and have been doing little bits of (not very creative) work. Interestingly I haven’t missed drawing, or blogging, though I have felt guilty for avoiding both. I’ve needed a break and I wonder if I need some more. Yesterday though, I did find myself putting some ink in my pen, and this morning I did make some (not fit to show anyone) marks in my sketchbook…
