simplicity reminder
September 26th, 2007
I happened upon a book in the “books in translation” section of the university bookshop yesterday. The drawings are wonderfully uncomplicated. I’m going to carry it around with me over the next few months as a reminder of how important it is to keep things simple.
I do think that I find the urge to make things overly complex is a strong one for me. I don’t just mean with drawing either (though I’d be profoundly happy if I could keep my drawings as simple, crisp and clear as in this lovely book), but in a lot of what I do. I can feel the urge now writing this post. Surely I have to say more than that I just want to keep things simple. Shouldn’t I add an acedote, or expand on my theme?
Not today.
The book, which is by Per Olov Enquist, is Three Cave Mountain or: Grandfather and the Wolves and is illustrated by Stina Wirsén.
