I realised as I walked past this tray still sitting on the kitchen table from my supper last night that everything on it had come from Mum’s house. It suddenly felt like she had just been here. I want to pack it all away carefully and preserve the feeling.

Do preserved objects preserve feelings? Surely you are the wonderful vessel who has already preserved that feeling and it will evolve and change with you. There will be no loss only a gentle metamorphosis.
