Become remarkable!

I love the Internet. I love the way serendipity often seems to hand me just what I need on the web (well, okay I’m probably looking in sort of the right places but even so it does sometimes feel like magic). I’m currently putting together a workshop on how creative types can learn to be remarkable online. How the wonders of social media like Twitter and Flickr, blogging and Facebook, can be used as so much more than just an online notice board. How through generosity and imagination, and using the tools of Web 2.0, we can all learn to be create a buzz, show other people the way (and maybe also sell some art!).

The above video fell into my lap via a post over on the wonderful Moleskinerie. I defy you to watch it without getting excited about the way the world of media is changing. Not excited? Then move along. Excited? Then fasten your seatbelt and join in the ride.

How are you going to be remarkable today?

Today I have shared drawings from the recent sketch crawl on my Facebook, Twitter and blog. By using these tools I am able to expand new influences and ideas into my life and into the the lives of those I’m in touch with. This circle of creativity expands little by little and with each new idea I find that I feel more inspired to be creative….feeling connected to a larger group of artists ….

Being an artist at times can be isolating…the internet has helped me reconnect in conversations and ideas that inspire.

Ooops..I forgot Flickr….it is also a great place to exchange art and ideas :)

Exciting and highly effective: beats the hell out of lugging a full A1-sized portfolio case round endless outer offices & waiting rooms for brief moments with overloaded picture editors.

Love Peter’s comment!
I think the most remarkable thing for me so far today, but it IS early, is watching the video. Not in the category of having to move along, yet somewhat overwhelmed by the fastness of the video itself and having to think/process what it is telling me! So much of the STUFF out there though, on FB, et all, is just such crap – hmmmmm, thanks for making me think again today, Michael. -

just shared this video…and it’s good to see how expansive information becomes when the power is given to the people ^. .^ Thank you Michael -

Astonishing! I’m just resuming blogging after a break from it for 18 months or so – the networking and abundance of enthusiasts and cheerleaders for creativity far outweigh the darksides, troll-villes and cynical opportunists. I think the opportunity to take power into your own hands and shape the way we work and play has never been brighter (and maybe the recession has helped speed this massive mind-shift).

Thank you so much for this exhilarating clip :)
