I love receiving post

This post was written by Michael Nobbs. Follow him on Twitter (and now Facebook too).

One of the few things about my recent enforced snowbound retreat, was that for a while the postman couldn’t get through. He’s a nice chap, and I enjoy passing the time of day with him, but more than that I love to hear his van trundling up the lane because I look forward to seeing whet he’s going to pop in my postbox. So, I’m sure you can imagine how I missed that little daily anticipation when the snow was too deep for him to make it up the hill to the house.

Now the snow has melted, I can listen out again for the sound of the postvan. Sometimes, of course there’s very little in the postbox after it’s gone, but some days there’s a wonderful bumper delivery! I had a bumper day last week. Among the goodies were:

A postcard written instead of watching an advert break from my friend and photographer, Peter Bryenton (Peter recently added to my list of things you can do in twenty minutes with a few five minute tips of his own, one was to write a postcard to a friend, another was to sow on a button, I’ve still to get round to that one. Maybe later).
A copy of the talented Jez Whitworth’s latest issue of his new zine (which I’ve been enjoying with my elevensies the last couple of days).
A bumper box of goodies from CafĂ© Royal which I bought using their great “surprise” deal.

I’m very lucky!
