About

Sustainably Creative, is aimed at people, who for whatever reason are limited in energy. It about showing that it is possible to stay creative even when energy is in short supply, and how working on small creative acts on a regular basis can build over time into a substantial body of work (and a creative career).

Michael NobbsI’m Michael Nobbs, I’m an artist, blogger and tea drinker (not necessarily in that order). In the late 1990s I was diagnosed with ME/CFS. You can read more of my story if you’re interested here, but the short version is that over the last decade and a half I’ve learned a lot about how to maintain a creative career with, at times, VERY low energy reserves.

I aim to write at least two posts a week for Sustainably Creative and also publish a microMagazine every other week called, Getting Your Important Work Done (subscribe by popping your email address into the subscription box on any blog page). I also make microPodcasts (I’m a big believer in things “micro”!) when time and energy allow, and tweet most days about drawing, keeping things simple and getting the Important Work done.

I publish an illustrated journal of my life called, The Beany, and recently released a free ebook called Start to Draw Your Life, which you can download here. I’m currently working on a new book, Sustainable Creativity which will be launched in beta version to a small number of earlier adopters this autumn (if you’re interested in being one of the early adopter then drop me an email and I’ll keep you abreast of developments).

If you would like to support, Sustainably Creative, which is an ad-free blog, then please consider buying a copy of The Beany, or joining my affiliate program and help sell it (affiliates receive 51% of sales). You are also very welcome to make a small donation. All gifts and purchases are VERY gratefully received.

Contact

I recently turned off commenting on Sustainably Creative to allow me more time to write posts (and drink tea!), but I still love to hear from readers.

You can contact me via Twitter, and send me an email via this page. I do my best to read and respond to all emails but please forgive me if sometimes I am not able to.
